Subak – Traditional Irrigation System in Bali

       Subak is a traditional civic organization in agriculture in Bali. Subak is organization in irrigation sector that inherited from generation to generation since ten centuries ago. Subak development in Bali on 600 years of culture have been known to dry land agriculture and wetland.


        Subak usually has pura which named Pura Uluncarik or Pura Bedugul. This Pura was built by farmers and dedicated to Sri (The Goddess of Prosperity). This Irrigation system is governed by an indigenous leaders who also is a farmer in Bali. Subak has a variety of wisdom (intelligence) who has inherited the local community supporters hereditary.
       Local wisdom include having the nature of socio-cultural and socio-religious unique and superior. Local wisdom with intelligence on Subak organizations are part of Bali Culture. Local wisdom in the Subak organizations based on Tri Hita Karana Concept and appreciated universal philosophy associated with the content of cosmos, theos, anthropos, and logos.
